The Federation of Oyo State Students Union (FOSSU), Bayero University, Kano (BUK) chapter has presented Award of Excellence to two eminent personalities in Oyo State.
The awardees of the 3rd Home Visitation embarked upon by FOSSU, BUK chapter are; Chief Bioku Rahaman Jimoh popularly called Bioraj and Hon. Sanni Yinusa Insha Allah.
The presentation of Award of Excellence took place in Kishi, Irepo Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The participants of the FOSSU 3rd Home Visitation were warmly received at Iba of Kishi Palace with top-notch hospitality.
The President, FOSSU, BUK chapter, Comrade Adelodun Yusuf Adedolapo who hailed from Ibarapa central, Igbo Ora stated that Home Visitation by Oyo State indigenes schooling in BUK has become tradition.
He said the initiative was put together to unite all Oyo State indigenes in BUK. The visitation is part of the agenda of the union to let every member of the association know their origin and get familiar with customs and tradition during visitation.
Comrade Adelodun noted that apart from the two eminent personalities the union honoured recently, others that have been awarded previously by the union for their immense contribution to students’ welfare were; Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, Oyo State Deputy Governor Engr Rauf Olaniyan, renowned Islamic scholar, Sheikh Muhydeen Ajani Bello, Oyo State ACCOS Chairman Hon. Afees Onaara, S.A Students Affairs to Oyo State Governor Hon. Victor Olojede and Hon. Kazeem Bolarinwa the S.A to Oyo State Governor on Youths and Sport among others.
Chief Bioku Bioraj appreciated the Students for such recognition and preached to them the needs for been a good leader and ambassador of their respective places. He outlined the needed virtues of a good leader and urge the Students to abide and uphold them all for a successful living using his life story as case study.
Hon. Sanni Yinusa Insha Allah remarked that he was so impressed with the program of the Union and commended such fear while encouraging the Students to keep the good work up. He thanked the Students immensely and expressed his gladness for the recognition given to him out of those considered worthy of such an award. He admonished the Students to be patriotic, responsible and fear God in all their doing and ensure that disrepute is not brought to the image of Oyo State wherever they are.
The union Vice President Ameenat Oladosu Abike in her remark appreciated the good people of Irepo Local Government stating that the hospitality is top-notch and highly superb, she on behalf of the Union thank the Iba of Kishi, KPU, KISA National executives for the wonderful reception received in Kishi that truly the town is a so blessed and houses many great and important personalities. The union prayed for the awardees and beseech their continuous support for the students of Oyo State and Nigeria as a whole.
