The Oyo State Government has approved an upward review of maternity leave for pregnant women and nursing mothers in the state from 4 to 6 months.
This was disclosed at the end of weekly State Executive Council meeting by Commissioner for Establishment and Training, Prof. Daud Sangodoyin.
Prof. Sangodoyin revealed that the upward review of the maternity leave was to meet the World Health Organisation’s recommendation to achieve exclusive breast feeding.
The Commissioner said that workers would be entitled to leave four times while in active service of the state government.
He, however noted that the 2:00pm official closing time for nursing mothers at work would no longer be effective upon resumption from the 6 months maternity leave.
