Ward 6 Councillor in Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Adebayo Akeem Akinwumi has cried out that he wasn’t part of kangaroo councilors that impeached leader of the House, Rt Hon. Idowu Okunola.
He tells FRESHPAGE.COM.NG correspondent that inclusion of his name among those Councilors that agreed and voted for removal of leader of legislative arm was mischievous and calculated attempt to dent him name and what he stands for in the power tussle.
“I read with utmost shock that my name was included in the list of lawmakers that impeached speaker of the legislative arm. The news is not true but an attempt by disgruntled elements who are hell bent to impoverish our dear Local Government Area.
“I want to tell my good people of Ward 6 constituency that I will continue to represent them well in the hallowed chamber of Oyo East Legislative Arm. I use this medium to call them and disregard the news from online platform that I was part of those that made such ulterior decision..
“I want to State categorically I stand with the decision of majority that Mr. Chairman should step aside to enable House investigate the matter before it and unravel the atrocities and financial misappropriation perpetrated in the Council.
“I challenge those that were at kangaroo session of the house to serve the public my picture as part of those that took unconstitutional decision. May I inform the public the decision of the house led by Rt Hon. Idowu Okunola stand because constitution provides that Legislative Arm can hold the sitting within the territorial area of the Local Government.
“For record purpose, the suspended Chairman of the Local Government has four (4) councilors to his side out of ten (10) he should stop parading me among his councilors”.
