Senator Yunus Akintunde joined the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, Soun of Ogbomoso, Oba Olaoye Ghandi, Etsu Nupe and other notable dignitaries to celebrate the 50th birthday ceremony of Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II.

The event which held at Ile-Ife on Friday was quite glamorous on the arrival of the First Lady Mrs Oluremi Tinubu, also a former Senator of the Federal Republic and an Alumnus of Obafemi Awolowo University.

Senator Akintunde in a release made available to see zee through Kunle Olatunji his Special Assistant had earlier sent goodwill message to felicitate with His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi, and prayed for Almighty God to grant him many more years of peaceful reign in good health and splendor.

“Since the period of your Imperial Majesty’s enthronement as the Ooni of Ife, it is quite glaring that the ancient city of Ile-Ife and the entire kingdom has witnessed tremendous peace, development and growth”

“This is evident in the quite noticeable ambience and rapid economic expansion of the city in recent times among other virtues of your unique, very urbane and kind personality as a Monarch holding fast the valued historical heritage and traditions of the Yoruba race of which Ile Ife has ever been quite significant”.

“I sincerely rejoice and join several family, friends and associates, the unique people of Ile-Ife, government and people of Osun State, the entire Yoruba race with our proud heritage of Ife Kingdom, Nigerians and by extension Africa to celebrate and wish our highly revered monarch, His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Adeyeye Ogunwusi Ojaja II a happy 50th birthday”.

Highlight of the occasion was after the arrival of the wife of the President, Senator Oluremi Tinubu in company of Senator Yunus Akintunde, the several traditional rulers including Soun of Ogbomoso joined His Imperial Majesty, Ooni Ogunwusi to commission a 7km road constructed within the Obafemi Awolowo University Ile-Ife, a special birthday gift donated by the monarch.

The occasion also witnessed the unveiling of a golden statue of the First Lady, Mrs Oluremi Tinubu in the ancient city of Ile-Ife as encomiums and good will messages poured in to celebrate the monarch.
