Ogbeni Labzy Alternative, a social impact organisation committed to driving positive change, has concluded a two-week capacity-building programme, Skill-Up Ibadan 2.0, aimed at equipping young professionals with market-relevant skills and competencies.
The initiative, held in Ibadan, trained 60 participants through intensive sessions facilitated by industry practitioners. The programme combined technical training with critical soft skills development, positioning participants for improved employability and productivity in an increasingly competitive business environment.
The training was convened in commemoration of the 60th birthday of Joseph Tegbe and received sponsorship support from the Tegbe Foundation, alongside partnerships with Sebs Hub, SkillNG, and SchoolNowNow.
Speaking at the closing ceremony, Convener of Ogbeni Labzy Alternative, Adeola Adelabu, described the initiative as a strategic contribution to human capital development. He noted that the programme was designed to empower young people with practical, workplace-ready skills aligned with current market demands, while also acknowledging the contributions of partners, facilitators, and volunteers to its successful delivery.
Stakeholder feedback and participant testimonials indicated strong outcomes, with beneficiaries highlighting improved technical capabilities, enhanced soft skills, and increased readiness for career opportunities.
In his goodwill message, Femi Adeleke, Executive Director of the Tegbe Foundation, commended the initiative and reaffirmed the Foundation’s commitment to supporting youth-focused development programmes. Additional remarks from Olajumoke Adelabu and Ibrahim Oredola reinforced the importance of collaborative efforts in advancing youth empowerment.
Certificates were presented to all participants, with special recognition given to outstanding trainees and contributors.
Stakeholders at the event expressed optimism about scaling the initiative, with plans to expand its reach and deepen its impact in subsequent editions.
