National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Oyo State chapter has alleged that Oyo State Government under the leadership of Engr Seyi Makinde is planning to use State security among others to frustrate proposed demonstration of the association.
The association made the allegation in a press statement issued in Ibadan on Monday.
Below is the full statement issued by the association;
It has been brought to the attention of the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Oyo State that the Governor of the state, Engr. Seyi Makinde is making plans to mobilize the state security, PMS Boys, and hoodlums to disrupt and threaten the planned peaceful protest of this organization.
In retrospect to the press release made available to newsmen through a press conference days ago, this planned protest emanate from our dying commitment to ensure student welfarism and consideration in Oyo State is prioriotized.
Recall that we have earlier stated our 6 points demand to the state government with feasible agendas that if considered will add to the success of the Seyi Makinde led government and would make all the entire students in Oyo State proud of him.
The leadership of Oyo NANS however reiterates that despite all attempts to make our planned movement impossible, the entire student in Oyo State will ensure this protest is possible and demonstrated.
We clearly state that the Seyi Makinde led government will be held responsible if anything happens to any students across the state in this period where we are requesting for our right as an integral part of the youth populace in the state.
