The six owned tertiary institutions in Oyo state through the Joint Action Committee (JAC) that comprises all the trade unions has demanded full implementation of minimum wage by implementing table submitted by the JAC for September salaries.
The call was contained in a communiqué released at the meeting held at the Oke-Ogun Polytechnic, Saki which was made available to Freshpage.com.ng
The meeting was attended by representatives of the six Oyo State- owned tertiary institutions.
The meeting which considered the situation report from all the institutions in respect to staff welfare and institutional advancement also used the opportunity of the meeting to appreciate the Oyo state government for constituting Governing Councils in the state owned institutions.
The JAC also demanded financial autonomy for the state owned tertiary institutions to overcome unnecessary bottleneck created by Platinum Consultant. This would relieve Platinum of the authorization responsibility and vest such on the council as enshrined in the laws establishing each institution.
The body also noted with displeasure the ugly trend of fractional salaries of Emmanuel Alayande College of Education, Oyo, through incomplete remittance of the cooperative deductions since June, 2020 till date and demanded investigation and reversal of the mode of payment with immediate effect.
The body appreciated the effort of the present government in Oyo state in releasing the white paper reports of Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa, the Oke Ogun Polytechnic, Saki and demanded immediate implementation of the white paper reports by the Council of the concerned institutions.
