Prof. Adebowale Ojo

The Vice Chancellor, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan has received with great shock the news of the demise of Professor Abiodun Adebowale Ojo which sadly occurred today, Tuesday, April 23, 2024 after a successful surgery at the University College Hospital, Ibadan (UCH).

Professor Adebowale Ojo, who was on sabbatical at the university, was until his death the Dean, Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education.

According to a press statement signed Registrar, Olubunmi Asunmo, the late Dean, was a staff of the Tai Solarin University of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. He was a Professor of Education Evaluation and two-term Provost of the Tai Solarin College of Education, Ijebu-Ode, Ogun State. He was the chairman of the Adeseun Ogundoyin Polytechnic, Eruwa.

Prof. Ojo, who obtained undergraduate and postgraduate degrees in the field of Education from the University of Ilorin; the University of Lagos and the University of Ibadan, respectively, served as a member of the Governing Council, Tai Solarin University of Education. He was also a member of the Governing Board of the Teachers’ Registration Council of Nigeria (TRCN).

He joined the service of the Ogun State College of Education, Ijagun on August 26, 1980 and rose through the ranks to the position of a Chief Lecturer. Upon the transition of the College to a University, he was appointed a Senior Lecturer and was pronounced a Professor on October 1, 2019.

He was graciously offered a sabbatical leave by the Management of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo and resumed as the pioneer Dean of Faculty of Specialised and Professional Education on September 26, 2023, a position he held until his demise.

The Vice Chancellor prays for the repose of the deceased’s soul and the fortitude to bear the huge loss by the family.
