The Oyo State COVID-19 Task force has been adjudged one of the best in the country in its efforts at containing the spread of the disease as well as providing adequate treatment for infected people.

This statement was made today in Ibadan by the Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr. Wasiu Olatunbosun in a phone-in interview on a popular radio programme ” COVID-19 Situation Room”.

According to him, the efforts of the COVID-19 Task force in Oyo State could not be underestimated in the fight against the dreaded disease as well as providing adequate treatment and support to those infected.

“Let me state categorically that the Oyo State COVID-19 Task force is the best in the country in the fight against the dreaded disease as well as providing adequate treatment and support to those infected.

“I seize this opportunity to thank His Excellency, the Governor of Oyo State, Engr. Seyi Makinde for being proactive and responsive in putting up this task force, his ingenuity and concerns for the well being of all and sundry cannot be underestimated.”

Olatunbosun noted that though he was asymptomatic to the disease, he was in self isolation for 46 days having tested positive for COVID-19 five consecutive times.

“Though I was asymptomatic to the disease, I tested positive for COVID-19 five times before my last two tests came out negative. I went through emotional and psychological trauma during my self isolation period but I thank God for His mercies that I am alive and in good health now.”

He appealed to the people of the state to observe the COVID-19 protocols of social distancing and wearing of nose mask at all times.

“I want to appeal to the people of the state to adhere strictly to the laid down measures by the task force by observing social distancing and wearing of nose mask at all times.

“Our drivers should adhere strictly to one passenger in the front seat and two passengers at the back seats, while Okada riders are to take one passenger at a time.”

The Commissioner was grateful to Muslim Community and the Christian Association of Nigeria, CAN, Oyo State Chapter and some concerned citizens, for their prayers and support while he was in self isolation.
