Some Fulani groups in Oyo State have seek an assistance of Governor Seyi Makinde and Oyo state Commissioner of Police, CP Nwachukwu Nwonwu over alleged incessant killing of their members as well as their cows.

In a statement on Sunday jointly signed by Alhaji Saliu Kadri, JP and Ibrahim Saliu, the group have raised alarm over alleged incessant killing of their members and cows.

Kadri is the National Chairman of Jamu Nati Fulbe Association of Nigeria and Seriki Fulani of Oyo State, while Saliu is the State Chairman, Miyetti Allah Kautel Hore Fulani Socio-Cultural Association.

The group said that no fewer than 10 of their members and several cows have been killed across the state in the last three months.

“In the past three months over 10 of our members and many cows worth millions of naira have been killed in different parts of the state.

“We hereby use this opportunity to inform the governor, Commissioner of Police and the general public of frequent and unprovoked killing of our members and cows across the state,” they said.

The group said that the incident occurred in Saki, Ijio, Ogbomoso, Iresaadu, Iganna, Ado-Awaye and Igboora.

They alleged farmers of putting poisonous substances on the grazing routes and rivers thereby causing the death of the cow as well as their members who drink from the rivers.

According to the statement, “this is particularly necessary at this stage as there is a limit to human patience.

“We are as an association have always been holding meetings to educate our members on the need to be law abiding.”

The group said that they might not be able to restrain their members if the unprovoked killing continue unabated.

They said that their members might see them as failing in their duty of presenting their plight to the government.

“We hereby call on the government and progressive stakeholders in the state to come to our aid to prevent furth killing of our members who are law-abiding citizens,” they said.
