If Governor Seyi Makinde is a Nollywood Actor, he will fit into the roles of ” Enunjawire” very perfectly.
I have said several times, if you are having a bad day, just pray that Governor Makinde should have a reason to make public statements. You’re certainly sure to be entertained.
I have listened to his address to the Civil servants at the Secretariat on Friday morning and as usual, I’m not disappointed. I enjoyed the show. It was like watching a comedy from Bolaji Amusan, ” Baba Latin”.
In the first instance, I am yet to understand the reason for the gathering up till the time I am writing this piece.
The Governor went on a month long leave and he was said to be returning today. So, what is the business of the Civil servants with that? Why would the Governor not just walk quietly into his office?
When he was going on leave, did he gather them together to inform them?
Like I said, I have listened to the address of Governor Seyi Makinde to the Secretariat Workers on Friday morning and I have a lot of issues with the outgoing Governor’s comments. Most especially, his scathing attacks against opposition Gubernatorial candidates.
After listening to Governor Seyi Makinde, I told myself, Bimbo Adekambi will continue to carry Governor Seyi Makinde’s excesses as an albatross till he is defeated next year February.
This is a Bimbo Adekambi who just labored so hard, albeit , without success, to convince Nigerians that he is not Makinde’s puppet during his appearance on Arise Television some days ago and here is a Governor Seyi Makinde who will not let go of the feeding bottle he stuck in Adekanbi’s mouth.
Governor Seyi Makinde is going to be on the presidential ballot in January and yet, he still thinks it is his responsibility to ignore his own campaign and keep campaigning for Bimbo Adekambi.
Like I said, I have issues with Governor Makinde’s scathing attacks against opposition Gubernatorial candidates. Most especially, Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli.
In the course of his address, he referred to the Oyo state All Progressives Congress, APC Gubernatorial candidate as ” a Lawyer who has never handled a case” amongst other insults. I must say that he did not mention Senator Sarafadeen Alli by name, but everyone knew who he was talking about.
I have known Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli for almost twenty five years now and I have seen him in several courts doing his job.
I can not really say where Seyi Makinde was at those times but I really won’t bother myself with that aspect of Governor Seyi Makinde’s misguided attacks.
No reasonable person would take Governor Makinde serious on that allegation.
The aspect I could not ignore is where Governor Seyi Makinde began to brag about the fact that he is an Engr and a Fellow.
When he said so, I asked myself, did this man know that the man he was talking about just bagged a PhD?
I also remember a particular incident. The Light Up Oyo Project of Governor Seyi Makinde.
Governor Seyi Makinde, as an Engineer that he calls himself, awarded a contract for the Light Up Oyo, for billions of Naira.
The project was delivered and less than two years after it was delivered, the Engineer Governor, through his Commissioner for information at the time, Wasiu Olatunbosun, said that the Government of Oyo state admitted that the contract failed!
He said the Contractor failed to deliver to certain specifications!
What an indictment of Governor Seyi Makinde, the Engineer?
You will want to ask a few questions. Didn’t Government monitor the project at different stages to ensure compliance before it accepted the project from the Contractor or, there was a question of competence on the side of the Government headed by Engineer Seyi Makinde?
The Light Up Oyo Project is enough proof to conclude that, as an Engineer, Governor Seyi Makinde is a colossal failure, but it is not an isolated case.
I can also refer to the just commissioned Bodija Market Road. The Omi-Adio-Ido Road, the Ido-Eruwa Road and many more.
I also looked at the person trying to disparage Sarafadeen Alli and I laughed.
Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli was a Local Government Chairman, a former Secretary to the State Government, a former Chief of Staffs to the Governor of Oyo state and Chairman of the Oodua Board.
During his tenure as the Chairman of the Oodua Board, a lot of projects were executed by the Board.
Up till today, the same Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli has not been indicted for any crimes relating to fraud and embezzlement of public funds.
Presently, Governor Seyi Makinde has been running from pillar to post over allegations of misappropriation of public funds and if not for section 308 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria which confers immunity from criminal prosecution on him, perhaps, he would be answering questions before the courts as at now.
So, who is trying to disparage Senator Sarafadeen Alli here?
Also, to the credits of Sarafadeen Alli, he is not known for being a serial betrayal and trouble shooter like the Governor and we are very proud of him for this.
Governor Seyi Makinde claimed to be a multi billionaire in 2019 and till today, no one can say how he made his acclaimed billions.
Even, in 2019 tongues wagged about his real status, which didn’t agree with his claims of being a multi billionaire.
I hope Governor Seyi Makinde would not drag his penchant for reckless talks to a point where we will be forced to unfold what we knew about him before he became Governor in 2019.
I don’t know of a billionaire who would be accused of taking loans from friends when he was contesting for Governor and in most cases, refused to repay the loans even after he became Governor and in some instances, he repayed the loans grudgingly.
I am also surprised that Governor Seyi Makinde, ignorantly believed that every Lawyers are bound to practice in the Law courts!
It is also disdainful to hear Governor Seyi Makinde talked about the policy of 30-Pupil per classroom as if it was not practiced in this same state.
Not only did Governor Rasidi Adewolu Ladoja, as he then was, ensured that we had a minimum of 30-Pupil per classroom, he also employed Teaching and non Teaching Staffs.
So, is Governor Seyi Makinde saying we should continue to cram our Pupils in the classrooms in their hundreds and in many cases now, under roofless classrooms and trees, just because he employed Teachers?
If you do not have the capacity to get something done, does it mean no one else could?
So, Governor Makinde is telling us that his standards in governance could not be improved? Every Governors should continue to loot the monthly allocations for the 33 Local Governments?
By the way, I was informed a few days ago that the standard of our Education has been on a steady decline since he became Governor in 2019.
So, we should continue with that trend?
That Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli has served in all the capacity he has been privileged to serve and he is still walking around today a free man is a testament to his uprightness as a public official and I’m sure, even Governor Seyi Makinde knows that beginning from 29th of May, 2027, he would be at the mercy of the men in red.
So, where is the mouth to disparage Alli?
I will take time to respond to his MAD Reset Agenda.
We don’t want a negative resetting in Nigeria. We are sane people here.
