The authority of Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, has officially distanced itself from remarks reportedly made by Professor Ademola Omobewaji Dasylva concerning the Alaafin of Oyo, His Imperial Majesty, Oba Abimbola Akeem Owoade I, after the inauguration of the Alaafin Institute of Yoruba Studies.

‎In a statement signed by the University Registrar, Mrs. Olubunmi Siju’ Asunmo, the University expressed profound regret over the remarks, emphasizing that they neither represented nor reflected the official position, values, or sentiments of the University or its Management.

‎The University reaffirmed its deep respect and reverence for the Alaafin of Oyo, describing His Imperial Majesty’s presence at the inauguration as the highest honour bestowed on the institution at the event. It also acknowledged the clarifications provided by Dr. James Adesokan Ojebode and Mr. Bode Durojaiye regarding the appropriate understanding of the issues surrounding the royal protocol.

‎The statement further reiterated the University’s unwavering commitment to the preservation and promotion of Yoruba culture and traditional institutions through the teaching, research and academic activities of Alaafin Institute of Yoruba Studies. It concluded with a humble appeal for Alaafin’s understanding, forgiveness, and continued goodwill.
