The 12th Registrar of the University of Ibadan, Mrs. Olubunmi Omobolanle Faluyi has received encomium as she bows out of office at the end of her 5-year tenure.
The encomium was poured on her during an inauguration and send-off ceremony organized for the incoming and outgoing Registrars in Trenchard Hall, University of Ibadan.
The Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Administration, Professor E. O. Ayoola, in an address read on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS, at the ceremony described Mrs Faluyi as an astute administrator, a leader per excellence, and an effective manager of human and material resources.
Professor Adebowale noted that Mrs Faluyi’s journey to the pinnacle of her career was characterised by hardwork, readiness to learn, commitment, loyalty to the system, a deep knowledge of the traditions and culture of the University as well as the desire to do the right thing and stand by the truth always.
There were also goodwill messages from colleagues who sang her praises and told of her intellectual capacity and her being a repository of knowledge and administrative records.
The ceremony featured the symbolic handing over of the baton of leadership of the University of Ibadan Registry to the in coming Registrar, Mr Ganiyu Oke Saliu.
Mr Saliu promised to uphold the traditions of the University and to take the Registry and the University to higher heights.
He solicited the support and cooperation of all staff of the University to achieve a successful tenure. He promised not to betray the confidence reposed in him.
At the ceremony were the Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Academic, Professor Aderonke M. Baiyeroju; the Bursar, Mr A. Popoola; the University Librarian, Dr Mercy Iroaganachi; Provost, College of Medicine, Prof. Olayinka Omigbodun; Provost, Postgraduate College, Prof. A.S.O. Ogunjuyigbe; former Registrars, Chief Moji Ladipo and Mrs. Omotayo Ikotun; members of the families of the incoming and outgoing Registrars; religious leaders; friends; colleagues and well wishers.
Immediately after his symbolic inauguration, Mr G. O. Saliu, the outgoing Registrar, Mrs Olubunmi O. Faluyi, family members, and other well wishers assembled at the Chapel of the Ressurection for an inauguration service.
Prayers were said for a successful tenure for Mr Saliu. He was charged to put the fear of God into whatever he does, to be fair and just as well as uphold the traditions of excellence for which the University of Ibadan is known.
Mrs Faluyi’s tenure ends on Monday, 10 April 2023, while Mr Saliu is expected to assume duties on Tuesday, 11 April 2023, for a five year tenure in the first instance. The appointment of Mr G. O. Saliu, as the 13th Registrar of the University of Ibadan, was approved by the Governing Council of the University.
