I celebrate a remarkable person who embodies excellence, resilience and dedication: Olufunmilola Adesina. As a politician, strategist and alumna of the University of Ibadan, you have consistently demonstrated resolute commitment to public service and community development.
You worked with the late Senator Abiola Ajimobi and your involvement in the Annual Abiola Ajimobi Colloquium, organised by the organised by the Senator Abiola Ajimobi Foundation (SAAF) and the Institute for Peace and Strategic Studies (IPSS), University of Ibadan, where we have both been serving since inception, is a testament to your passion for creating positive change.

Your contributions to the 2026 Ibadan Conference of the Annual Ibadan Cultural Festival (ICF) of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII) are eagerly anticipated. We are jointly working on inviting Professor Saheed Aderinto, 46, an Ibadan indigene from Delesolu Compound, Oje, a worthy alumnus of the University of Ibadan, a Nigerian-American Professor of History and African and African Diaspora Studies at Florida International University, an award-winning author and a filmmaker for the Conference as the Guest Speaker. In February 2023, Aderinto received the $300,000 Dan David Prize, the largest financial reward for excellence in the historical discipline in the world, in recognition of his “outstanding scholarship that illuminates the past and seeks to anchor public discourse in a deeper understanding of history. He has published eight books, thirty-six journal articles and book chapters, forty encyclopedia articles and twenty book reviews. His debut documentary film, The Fuji Documentary, premiered in February 2024.
Olufunmilola is like a one-woman battalion. She is a woman like one million Chinese. I wonder, at times, where she got the energy from.
You are a force to be reckoned with, inspiring countless individuals with your intelligence, boldness, thoughtfulness and kindness.
As you mark another year, I celebrate your achievements and the impact you have had on our community.
