The Union of European Football Associations (UEFA) has shortlisted 50 nominees for this year’s team of the year 2020 award.
Though, year 2020 has been a very challenging for football community as deadly COVID-19 pandemic compelled the football governing body to take some urgent decision before 2019/2020 competition across the globe came to an end.
Five nominees were shortlisted in the goalkeeper category; those shortlisted were; Alisson Becker of Liverpool, Anthony Lopez of Olympic Lyon, Keylor Navas of Paris Saint Germain, Manuel Neuer of Bayern Munich and Jan Oblak of Athletico Madrid.
Thirty nominees were shortlisted for the defenders category, 3 Bayern Munich players made the list, the trio of likes of Alexander Armold, Virgil Van Dijk, and Andy Robertson of Liverpool made the shortlist as well while three PSG players made the list in the category. Chelsea, Manchester United, Manchester City, PSG palyers and other teams also made the list for the midfielders category.
Lionel Messi and Critiano Ronaldo of Juventus led the chat of 15 nominees for forward category. Erling Haaland of Borrusia Dortmund, Harry Kane of Tottenham Hotspur, Robert Lewandoski of Bayern Munich and 10 others made the shortlist.
