Barely 17 days after Osun State Government cancelled reclassification schools in the state, the immediate past Governor of the State of Osun and current Minister of Interior, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola has responded why his government took decision of school classification.

Aregbesola said in order to implement O’MEALS and achieve its desired goals, his government has to reclassify education system in the state.

He noted that school feeding programme only covers primary one to two before his inauguration as governor of the state.

It would be recalled that Osun State Government through Coordinating Director of Ministry of Education, Taiwo Adeagbo announced reverting reclassification of nomenclature of schools to old status.

The Minister stressed that one of the reasons why his administration came up with reclassification of schools was to extend the school feeding programme to primary four pupils.

Aregbesola said schools were reclassified into elementary schools for Primary 1-4, middle schools for Primary 4 – JSS3 and high School for SS1 – SS3.

After the reclassification, O’MEALS were successful implemented in elementary schools.

The Minister of Interior emphasized that the state engaged the services of 3,007 community caterers to prepare the food thereby taking them out of pool of unemployment.
