His Imperial Majesty, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III has announced the suspension of his 50th coronation anniversary slated to kick off January 10, 2021.

The first class Yoruba traditional ruler intention to suspend the 50th coronation anniversary was contained in a memo released by the Palace citing high cases of deadly coronavirus across Nigeria.

 

The monarch disclosed that the ‘Oyomesi’ that is the king makers graciously approved suspension of the anniversary until the COVID-19 pandemic is defeated.

The traditional ruler stressed that national interest is above anything and as such the palace as suspended the most anticipated golden coronation anniversary.

Another reason given by the monarch for the suspension of the much anticipated coronation anniversary bother on the ability of invited foreign visitors to observe compulsory 14 days in isolation.

Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III ascended the throne on January 10, 1971 making him the third from the Adeyemi line to become the king of the ancient town. It would be recalled that Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III celebrated his 80th birthday in 2020.
