The Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Festus Keyamo has said that 774,000 jobs is not an All Progressives Congress (APC) programme but a programme where all Nigerians will benefit from.
He made the clarification via his verified Twitter account @fkeyamo he has not directed that forms for the 774,000 jobs be distributed to all APC Ward Leaders so that party members would benefit.
Keyamo reiterated that his Ministry shall only accept final lists from the States’ Selection Committees across the 36 states and FCT.
The Hon. Minister urged public to disregard all messages directing them to to National Directorate of Employment (NDE) offices to register Special Public Work.
Keyamo noted such messages will breach COVID-19 guidelines and assured everyone that selection will be done from Local Government Area (LGA) to Local Government Area (LGA) and not in the States’ NDE offices.
Each of the successful 1000 participants in each state will receive a sum of #20,000 for the period of 3 months from October to December 2020 as a way of cushion the effect of COVID-19 pandemic.
It would be recalled that House Committee Labour and Employment had on July 8 disagreed with Festus Keyamo over the process of recruitment that the National Directorate of Employment (NDE) should be carried along and should be the one to spearhead the whole process and not Keyamo’s Ministry.
Keyamo lamented that politicians have been making effort to hijack the programme.
President Muhammadu Buhari gave support to Hon. Minister of State for Labour and Employment, Keyamo to embark on the recruitment as its Ministry deem it best so that Nigerians will benefit immensely from it.
