An organized group of concerned members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ibadan North East / South East Federal Constituency of Oyo State have come out to pledge their support and stand by the choice of Morufat Ajibola Ishaq as the candidate of the party for the 2027 general elections describing Ibraheem Olayode Iyiola’s nomination as a nullity.
The aggrieved members densely populated by youth on Saturday while featuring on an Ibadan radio popular current affairs program lamented the grand plot by a particular group of anti-democratic elements within the party to upturn the outcome of May 16th, 2026 primary which produced Morufat Ishaq as party’s standard bearer.
Comrade Kazeem Akindeji, the coordinator of the protesting members while speaking expressed the dissatisfaction of all the party’s stakeholders over the non-democratic display by Otunba Moses Alake-Adeyemo led state executives in thwarting the wish of the majority saying Morufat Ishaq was the duly elected candidate of the APC which generality of the bonafide members voted in the primary election.
He avowed that Bibire as fondly called by the party’s faithful convincingly won the internal poll conducted and supervised by the agents of Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) across the twenty two wards of the Ibadan North East/South East Local Government areas stating that there was no election in ward eleven and twelve of the constituency respectively due to the logistics glitch as pronounced by the party’s officials in the conduct.
Akindeji further said Ishaq’s emergence was not through either a consensus arrangement among the leaders or a group of fellow aspirants despite the agitation that the ticket be zoned to Ibadan North East Local Government area which has not been given the opportunity since the ACN/APC regained the control of the state government in 2011 but on the popularity proved by a fair and square process applauded by the rank and file of the party members who believe in her capacity and vision to lead and represent the federal constituency in the green chamber of the national assembly.
It’s so disappointing that our great party long known for fairness and justice can be dragged this so low by infiltrators who thrive in manipulation and regression with conservatism deeply transfused in their DNA just to rubbish the hard labor of the committed party rooters who have been ceaselessly propagating the 2027 projects from top to bottom across the nooks and crannies of the state with the attempted imposition of Ibraheem Iyiola who has no root in both local government areas of the constituency and a host many others whose staunch party members have rejected with their votes during the primary elections, he decried.
The group therefore appealed to all the collegiate of leaders across the Ibadan North East/South East Federal Constituency, Oyo South Senatorial District excos, Otunba Moses Alake-Adeyemo chaired Oyo State and Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda chaired National Executives of the APC to as a matter of exigency correct the anomalies being perfected to deny the anxious party loyalists of the Ibadan mainstream votes by restoring Morufat Ishaq’s mandate with an immediate effect promising to rekindle their spirited passion and assiduously mobilize voters across the twenty four wards with unprecedented votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election and all the candidates of the party in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
