An Osun State University don, Professor Isola Oyelekan Ayantunji has called on teachers to be resilient and ensure they dignify themselves on the job they have been called to do by God Almighty.

In a press release made available by the University’s Media and Public Relations Officer, Wale Adeoye, the call was made on Tuesday at the celebration of the 2024 World Teachers’ Day organised by the Directorate of Professional Practice of the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo.

Giving lecture on the topic, “Empowering Educators: Strengthening Resilience, Building Sustainability, the Professor of Employment and Labour Relations stated, “teaching is a calling and the way we carry ourselves on the job means a lot. As a teacher, we must be resilient, strengthened and get re-trained to keep ourselves on the job. I appeal to teachers across board to put behind discouragements on the job as no committed teacher will have any regret being a teacher. As for me, I will choose teaching over and over again”.

Declaring the programme open, the Vice-Chancellor, Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo, Professor Olanrewaju Olaniyan extolled the virtues of teachers. According to him, “God Himself is the first teacher as he dictated how we should operate after creation. Our best teachers too are our parents as we all looked up to them from birth. I am therefore happy that we are celebrating the 2024 World Teachers’ Day as an institution. Our rich history as a foremost teacher training institution places it on us to take the celebration of teachers very seriously. We started the celebration last year and this is the second edition for our University. It shall therefore be celebrated yearly.” Speaking further, the renowned Economist expressed his delight on the topic which he said was timely and directly addresses issues bothering teachers globally.

“I am therefore assured that the Guest Lecturer and the erudite discussants shall do justice to the topic. On this note, I hereby declare the Emmanuel Alayande University of Education, Oyo 2024 World Teachers’ Day Celebration open”, he submitted.
