October 5 is a date set aside to celebrate teachers globally, the Federal Ministry of Education has announced commencement of the new National Teaching Policy. This was disclosed by the Minister of Education, Adamu Adamu at a press conference to commemorate World Teachers’ Day 2022 in Abuja.

Mallam Adamu called on state governments to ensure the implementation of the policy in their various states.

According to Federal Ministry of Education, the policy include new teachers’ salaries structure and new retirement age of 65.

The commitment from the FG came after months of several waiting. The FG charged state governments to follow suit to close gap between federal and state teachers.

Adamu reiterated that the holistic package of the policy would address remuneration, professional teaching standard, qualifications, deployment and management of teachers.

The theme of this year’s World Teachers’Day “Transformation of Education begins with Teachers” had in attendance key stakeholders in the Education industry.
