The Oyo State Government has reopened 23 public schools that have been closed for about 12 years over communal and boundary disputes within the state federal constituency.
Oyo State Deputy Governor, Barr Bayo Lawal who visited some of the schools, presented free notebooks, textbooks and instructional materials to them.
He warned against any attempt to disrupt academic activities in the schools for any reason.
Barr Lawal who expressed displeasure over the consequences of boundary disputes that have affected the education and future of children within those communities, stressed that while community leaders could continue to pursue litigation over land ownership, children must not be allowed to suffer by having their education stalled.
While expressing the commitment of the state government to the well-being and development of the people, the Deputy Governor assured that the 23 special schools would be managed by the ministry of education as necessary facilities including playground and other infrastructures would be put in place to make the schools conducive for learning.
The Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Saliu Adelabu promised that the ministry would do all within its power to ensure that the 23 schools come up to speed in terms of quality education and infrastructure.
