A former student leader of the University of Ibadan, Babatunde Olamide Badmus is the founder of Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy.
The Herbal Therapy is an alternative medical platform with a difference, is determined to take the use of herbal mixtures for medical care to the next level.
Babatunde revealed that passion to save lives from life threatening diseases among others informed his decision to start the herbal therapy business.
In less than two years in the herbal medicine industry, the success story of Asiwaju Elegboogi is a good testimony that the alternative medicine platform is adding value to people’s lives.
At the Press Conference held at Asiwaju Elegboogi’s office located beside FATOIL, Sango, Ibadan, the young C.E.O attended to questions from journalists present.
While speaking on the journey so far in the industry and why he flagged off the Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy, the Theatre Arts graduate of the University of Ibadan said he was disturbed by the rate at which people complain of diseases that are curable through herbal medicine.
He recalled how he met a woman at popular Skye Bank area of Bodija in 2014 who was planning to go for fibroid operation with a sum of N200,000.
According to him; “I told the woman not to go for operation that the fibroid with grow again after sometimes. I prescribed herb’s recipes for the woman to buy and how to prepare it. We didn’t exchange contact to avoid being labelled as 419. As fate would have it, in March 2020, the woman identified me at Bodija and she introduced herself as someone I assisted in 2014 with correct prescription of herbs on how to win war over fibroid without operation. She came with two kids, before she left, she said though, I don’t know what you do as a profession but herbal treatment is my way” .
Babatunde said, his herbal center is different from others because he integrates orthodox medicinal practice into the treatment process. He emphasized that his herbal therapy is different from roadside ‘alagbo’ where they don’t bother about quantity and quality of herbs they give patient.
“At Asiwaju Elegboogi’s, we don’t just combine herbs, we do laboratory analysis on them and get toxicology reports.”
“Aside from that, we have a serene environment where we have machines that produce everything. Apart from that because of our exposure, because we have traveled far and wide, we have an in depth understanding of how things work in other parts of the world.
“For example, when a patient comes to us to complain of low sperm count, we tell them to do a sperm analysis test and bring the result. When they do the test, what led to the low sperm count will show. It will tell us the morphology of the sperm and this would guide us on the herb to prescribe. But how many Alagbo know about that?,” he asked rhetorically.
Speaking further, the founder, who learnt the practice of herbal treatment from his late Grandmother for 10 years, noted that his decision to create the centre a little over a year ago was incidental due lockdown policy that barred him from returning abroad.
Babatunde appealed to Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi Ojaja II, Alaafin of Oyo, Oba Lamidi Adeyemi III and other traditional rulers in Yorubaland as custodian of tradition and culture to support professionals in the herbal medicine industry.
The founder of Asiwaju Elegboogi recounted that he has successfully treated eminent Nigerians who were suffering from diabetes and other ailments.
He urged the government at all levels to create enabling environment and friendly policy that will enhance best practices of herbal medicine in Nigeria.
Babatunde announced that Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy would soon commence the treatment of 100 people battling with diabetes free of charge.
He advised interested diabetic patients to pick up form free of charge of its office located beside FATOIL, Sango, Ibadan between 20th – 31st December, 2021.
He emphasized that for the period of 3 months the treatment would last, everything would be done free of charge. He admonished those that have diabetes to benefit from free health initiative by Asiwaju Elegboogi Herbal Therapy.
