In the early morning of Thursday, 19th November, 2021, armed men whose identities were initially unknown stormed the house of a popular Oyo man, Alhaji Azeez Maruff also known as TULA OYO. The armed men allegedly arrested him in the presence of his family while he was demanding to know his offence. He was handcuffed and blindfolded.
Worried, the family members sought the help of some prominent Oyo persons to know the whereabout of their breadwinner. In the course of this, the armed men were discovered to be personnel of the Nigerian Army and that of the Department of State Services (DSS).
All attempts by the family to access the man since he was unlawfully arrested was futile and the offence he was allegedly arrested for is still unknown.
As a concerned Oyo son, I join others to openly condemn this broad daylight illegality and apparent infringement of the human rights of this man.

What offence did he commit?
Which court of law ordered the arrest?
Does the Nigeria Army have the right to arrest him?
This is a pure violation of the rule of law and the man’s constitutional rights as a Nigerian, and so we demand for JUSTICE!
The rule of law should take its course and we will not fold our arms while watching armed personnel take laws into their hands to victimize, terrorize and ‘kidnap’ citizens in broad daylight.
