Oyo state governor, Engr Seyi Makinde has revealed that Oyo State Government has spent over $200 million so far for the phase one of the Ibadan Circular Road covering 32km from Abiola Ajimobi Technical University to Badeku, linking Ibadan-Ikire road.
Governor Makinde made the disclosure while hosting a medium-budget media chat comprising veteran journalists; Dr Reuben Abati, Ronke Giwa-Onafuwa, Sina Oladeinde, James Asuqou, among others.
Governor Makinde assured people of Oyo State through the media chat that the phase one of the 110km road will be opened for road users in the first quarter of 2026.
He used the avenue to express his administration readiness to concession the Ibadan Circular Road project for maximum benefit to the good people of Oyo State. Gov Makinde said any project without economic benefits will not see the light of the day.

Gov Makinde stressed that Oyo’s state budget performance in the last 6 years in Oyo State is above 70 to 75 per cent.
Governor Makinde said philosophy about Ibadan Circular Road is to avoid future gridlock Lagos State face on daily basis. He said government will acquire 500metre left and right where possible and 150 metre left and right in built-up areas. Makinde said documents of expansion of Ibadan Circular Road corridor to 500-metre left and right was gazetted and published in Nigerian Tribune Newspaper of November 19, 2018.
Makinde said that Ibadan Circular Road will be the first standard motor ways in Nigeria.
