The Permanent Secretary, Oyo State Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion, Mrs. Christiana Abioye has raised alarm that destitutes and beggers that were moved to Akinyele Resettlement Centre are returning to state’s capital, Ibadan.

She made the observation while speaking with Broadcasting Corporation of Oyo State, BCOS news crew in Ibadan. She remarked that destitute and beggars only made themselves available during lunch and dinner at the Akinyele Resettlement Centre.

It would be recalled that Oyo State Governor, Engr Seyi Makinde and key stakeholders resolved to relocate all beggars in the Ibadan to a secured environment with the primary aim of making life comfortable while government also work on their bio-data.

Mrs. Abioye stressed that evacuation of beggars to Akinyele Resettlement Centre is a continuous process. She assured the good people of the Oyo State those that returned to state’s capital will soon be moved back to designated centre.

She said the government will do everything possible to make life easier for everyone irrespective of ethnic difference.

The Permanent Secretary stressed that the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Inclusion in conjunction with Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources and other agencies would work together to ensure that destitute and beggars are safely evacuated back to Akinyele Resettlement Centre. She however commended cheerful givers who always go to the centre to give them materials and cash support.
