The Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, FAS, mni, has reiterated the University’s preparedness to maximise all opportunities made available to its students.

He gave this assurance during a courtesy visit paid to his office by representatives of Mastercard Foundation Scholars Program.

Professor Adebowale said the on going national strike action embarked upon by all University based workers’ unions may be a hindrance but it will not stop the progress of the Programme.

He therefore, appreciated Mastercard Foundation for the exploratory visit.

The leader of the team, Mr Andre Okunzuwa said the visit to UI by his team is a follow up to a meeting held in Kigali in 2019 as well as to assess the challenges and strengths of the University.

He stated that Mastercard Foundation is a philanthropic organisation whose aim is to empower African youths to have access to higher education.

The Scholars Program has so far committed 40,000 scholarships.

Also on the team were Ms Basirat Agboola and Mr Kingsley Nwachukwu.
