The University of Ibadan has received 15 copies of each of seven books written by the late Professor of Anatomy, Professor Sir John Oluwole Ogunranti.

The donation of the books was made on behalf of the Oladejo-Ogunranti family by Evangelist Dupe Singerr and Deaconess Oladiwura Soji-Ayoade.

Evangelist Singerr said her brother was a prolific writer who won over 100 awards and honours, had over 150 publications in his scientific field, and published 14 academic books in Medicine and Anatomy. He died as a Professor of Anatomy of the University of Jos, Nigeria, in 2019.

Professor Ogunranti attended Abadina Primary School, the International School, UI, and matriculated in UI in the Faculty of Technology but left for the then University of Ife to read Medicine. His mother, Mrs Joannah O. Ogunranti retired as a senior nursing staff member of the Jaja Clinic.

Evangelist Singerr said this background information explained why the family decided to begin donating Professor Ogunranti ‘s books from the University of Ibadan.

She urged the University to ensure that students make the most use of the books for the advancement of Medicine.

The Dean of Arts, Professor A. O. Oyeshile received the books on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor, Professor Kayode O. Adebowale, mni, FAS.

He appreciated the Oladejo-Ogunranti family for making the donation of books and assured that the books would be put to the best use.

He said copies of the books would be placed in the Department of Anatomy’s Library, the E. Latunde Odeku Medical Library as well as the Kenneth Dike Library for the use of students.

The donated books were:
1) Computerized Histology and Cell Biology Practical.
2) Computerized Medicine Practical.
3) Computerized Pocket Anatomy.
4) Computerized Neuroanatomy.
5) Computerized Living Anatomy Practical.
6) Computerized Osteology Practical and Tutorial.
7) Computerized Embryology Practical.
Each book came with its own disc.
