A total number of three thousand seven hundred and ninety-two (3,792) matriculants on Tuesday took matriculation oath as bonafide students of the University for the 2022/2023 academic session.

The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, FAS in his speech delivered by Deputy Vice Chancellor (Academic) Prof. Aderonke M. Baiyeroju said 2022/2023 matriculation ceremony of the University was significant because the set was 75th to be admitted into the University.
Prof. Adebowale congratulated the admitted students as the best of the best considering the rigour of UI’s admission process and non-compromise of merit the institution is known for.
the Vice Chancellor assured the newly matriculated students that teachers and others categories of staff will work together to make environment physically and psychologically conducive for them to learn.

the VC stressed that matriculation does not translate into graduation, he urged them to take their academic serious and excel.
the VC advised the students to manage their new found freedom responsibly noting that time is an irreplaceable resources.

”Be wary of the company you keep, don’t be lured into joining secret societies, cult groups, any organization not registered with Students’ Affairs Division is not recognized and do not affiliate with such, when you are in doubt, please ask”.
the matriculation lecturer, Mr Michael Mekuleyi, UI Alumnus and a first class graduate of Mechanical Engineering urged the fresh students to have catalyst for resilient and unlock their academic potentials. He stressed that University of Ibadan is a fertile ground for all and sundry to excel. Mekuleyi advised fresh students to incorporate learning of skills in their academics as soon as they get to 300-level and shun internet fraud.

The summary of the statistics of the candidates admitted for the 2022/2023 academic session showed that Faculty of Agriculture – 191, Arts – 593, College of Medicine – 581, Economics and Management Sciences – 76, Education – 584, Environmental Design & Management – 47, Law – 149, Pharmacy – 103, Renewable Natural Resources – 92, Science – 589, Technology – 469, The Social Sciences 224 and Veterinary Medicine – 94.
