As distinguished Senator Yunus Abiodun Akintunde marks two years of representing Oyo Central Senatorial District in the National Assembly, one of his strong constituents and vocal supporters, Hameed Mustapha Ramadan, has described his leadership as a remarkable transformation from “good representation to greatness.”
Speaking on the senator’s performance, Ramadan emphasized that Senator Akintunde has gone beyond the traditional roles of legislation and oversight, delivering visible development and people-centered governance across the senatorial district.
“What we are witnessing in Oyo Central is not ordinary political service, it is transformational leadership. Senator Akintunde is redefining what it means to truly represent the people,” Ramadan said.
Ramadan highlighted Senator Akintunde’s bold start during his first 100 days in office, particularly the commissioning of multiple landmark projects at the Federal College of Education (Special), Oyo. These include:
• A modern Administrative Building
• A 2,000-capacity Lecture Theatre
• A 1,500-capacity Lecture Theatre
• A dedicated Guidance and Counselling Building
• Newly constructed internal roads and drainage infrastructure
Infrastructure development, according to Ramadan, remains one of the senator’s strong points. Notably:
• He facilitated the rehabilitation of Ayegun-Oleyo Road
• On November 4, 2024, he flagged off two major road projects:
• Aroro Makinde Road in Akinyele LGA
• Ojongbodu-Gedu Scheme Road in Oyo
In healthcare, Senator Akintunde commissioned a 20-bed Primary Healthcare Centre and renovated an existing facility in Itokun, Oyo West LGA.

Furthermore, new schools and ICT centers have been constructed across the 11 LGAs in the senatorial district, boosting primary education and digital literacy.
One of the most notable accomplishments is the senator’s solar infrastructure initiative. Ramadan praised the deployment of:
At least 20 solar-powered streetlights and a borehole in each of the 118 wards in Oyo Central
Additional 5 solar lights each in mosques, churches, markets, hospitals, and traditional palaces across the LGAs
“The solar project has changed the face of our communities, safer roads, clean water, and better public facilities. It is leadership with foresight,” he added.
Ramadan also commended the senator’s focus on human capital development, describing his empowerment programs as both inclusive and far-reaching:
Youths and women were trained and supported with ₦50,000 grants, tools, and iPads.
Farmers, welders, tailors, hairdressers, vulcanisers, and others received equipment and support
A ₦2 million rotational loan was launched for traders in Akinyele LGA.
Cooking stoves and bags of rice were distributed ward by ward during festive seasons to support families.
As a lawmaker, Senator Akintunde has maintained a visible and effective presence in the National Assembly. Key highlights include:
•Motion to halt the proposed electricity tariff increase.
•Advocacy for resolution of the resident doctors’ nationwide strike.
•Sponsorship of a bill to upgrade the Federal School of Surveying to the University of Geomatics (1st reading: July 3, 2024; 2nd reading: March 12, 2025)
Ramadan also noted the senator’s effort in securing federal job placements for constituents in agencies such as the FIRS, TCN, Nigeria Police Force, and the Police Service Commission.
“Senator Akintunde is not just representing us, he is lifting communities, empowering citizens, and building a legacy. This is greatness in motion,” Ramadan concluded.
