On Saturday, 23 August, 2025, friends, family, associates and well-wishers gathered to celebrate the milestone birthday of Barrister Isiaka Aderemi Alli, a distinguished son of Ibadanland, at his Eleyele residence, Ibadan.This remarkable occasion was proof of his enduring impact on those around him.
Barrister Alli’s life is a shining example of dedication and perseverance. His decision to pursue a law degree at the University of Ibadan, after a successful banking career, speaks volumes about his commitment to personal growth and development. Interestingly, he made a first class in law at the first and best University in Nigeria, the first in West Africa, the seventh in Africa, and one of the most prestigious Universities in the world. The Nigerian Tribune of 16 November, 2012, reported his remarkable story as follows:
“Grandfather bags first class in law as UI graduates 1582.
A 57-year-old grandfather, Mr Isiaka Alli, was, on Thursday, named among 21 graduating students with first-class degrees as 1,582 students graduated from the University of Ibadan (UI). Alli is the elder brother of the Chairman of Odu’a Conglomerate, Chief Sarafa Alli. I was the Faculty at the period.

The celebrant’s bond with others, including the writer, is a highlight of his life. Their chance meeting at the University of Ibadan blossomed into a lasting friendship, demonstrating the power of shared experiences and mutual respect.
The 70th birthday celebration, expertly coordinated by Senator Sarafadeen Abiodun Alli, the Senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, was a heartfelt tribute to Barrister Alli’s life and legacy. The presence of esteemed guests, who included the Olufi of Gbongan and the Chairman of the event, Alhaji Rasheed Abdullahi, from The Polytechnic, Ibadan (TPI), Dr. Kazeem Adesola Adeduntan, former Managing Director of the First Bank, ApesinOla of Ibadanland and current Pro-Chancellor and Chairman of Council of the Senator Abiola Ajimobi First Technical University, Ibadan, and then my brother and classmate, Hon. Dr. Kazeem Adedeji, former member of the House of Representatives, Federal Republic of Nigeria, underscored the celebrant’s impact on the community. The emotional moment when Barrister Isiaka Alli was overcome with emotion is proof of the profound connection he has with those around him.
As I reflect on Barrister Alli’s life, we are reminded of the importance of kindness, humility and dedication.This is a man who will address me as “Oga mi, Ololufemi”, when I am much younger than him. His story serves as an inspiration to us all, encouraging us to live with purpose and to make a positive impact on those around us.
In celebrating Barrister Alli’s 70th birthday, I align myself with the sentiments of those who spoke on that day. I celebrate not only his achievements but also the values that have guided him throughout his life. I wish him many more years of good health, happiness and fulfillment, MaashaAllah!
