The Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) over the weekend held its annual dinner and award night where it honoured some notable people in the society.

The eventful moment which was held at the Oduduwa Hall of Premier Hotel in Ibadan had the convergence of all public relations practitioners in the state and the attendance of the bigwigs in the society and the 2021 awardees.

Honouring the awardees at the event, Oyo State acting NIPR Chairman, Mr Adegoke Adelakun made it known that the receivers of this year’s award were honoured in line with the institute’s recognition of their numerous contributions to the society with varying capacities in their fields of endeavours.

Adelakun who congratulated the awardees expressed his gratitude to everyone present at the event and also charged the awardees to keep raising the flag high in their ceaseless contributions to society and the world at large.

Present at the event was the Ekefa Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oloye Lekan Alabi who was the chairman of the day, Oyo State Commissioner for Information, Culture and Tourism, Dr Wasiu Olatunbosun, among many others.

Dr Yinka Ayefele, C.E.O of Fresh FM who was represented by the General Manager of the popular radio station was given a prestigious award in entertainment while the managing director of the BOVAS Group, Mrs V.A Samson was awarded based on her excellent performance in the oil and gas industry over the years.

Others are Dr Oladokun Olatunde, the C.E.O of SEAP Microfinance Bank who was awarded for his contribution to entrepreneurship development, Mr Makanjuola Ojewumi, an estate surveyor and the CEO of Knight Services and Jericho Mall who also bagged an award for his contribution to the real estate industry, Asiwaju Yinka Fasuyi, a recipient of the award on education development and Mr Olufemi Onireti, an ace politician and a philantrophist was awarded for his outstanding contributions to community development.

A posthumous award on selfless service was however given to the former chairman of the Oyo State chapter of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, Late Mr Henry Adegbuyi.

The institute also gave awards to notable organizations in Oyo State for corporate support, out of which are the Nigerian Tribune, Nigerian Breweries, and Premier Hotel.
