The Progressive Forum, Ibadan (TPFI), has extended its warm congratulations to the good and progressive people of Oyo State, and the Government as the State celebrates 50 years of existence.
In a statement by the Forum’s Secretary, Prince Kola Amoo Adelakin, TPFI Chairman, Mr Tunji Oladejo praised the State’s growth in influence, cultural relevance and political stability over the past five decades.
Oladejo noted that Oyo State’s achievements are worth celebrating, from its creation in 1976 to its current contributions to national development.
He commended Governor Seyi Makinde’s governance model, which prioritises infrastructure renewal, educational reforms, youth empowerment, agribusiness and economic expansion.
“Oyo State’s youth are its future, and investing in their development is crucial for sustained progress”, Oladejo emphasised.
He also hailed the contributions of past governors, traditional rulers, public institutions, the private sector, civil society groups, the media, artisans and community networks, describing them as instrumental in shaping the State’s development narrative.
As Oyo State looks to the future, Oladejo urged citizens to remain committed to unity, peace and progress, saying, “Oyo at 50 is not just a celebration of years; it is a celebration of collective achievements, shared aspirations and the unwavering commitment of our people to the ideals of good governance and socio-economic advancement”.
The Forum prayed for God’s blessings on Oyo State as it embarks on its next 50 years, with a renewed focus on development and a collective resolve to push boundaries.
