Hon. Raheem Rahman Adeola has described the decision of Governor Seyi Makinde in splitting Information, Culture and Tourism Ministry into two independent ministries is a welcome development. He attributed the decision as fulfilment of campaign promises made for OmiTuntun 2.0 by Governor Makinde which will assist in harnessing potentials inherent in Oyo State.

Speaking with FreshPage correspondent, Hon. Raheem commended the Governor Makinde’s bold move to reposition the Culture and Tourism sector in the state.

Hon. Raheem said Culture and Tourism play vital roles in the development of a State by contributing significantly to its economic, social and environment progress.

” The move by the government is laudable one that will create new festivals and support existing festivals, carnivals, and other attractive landmarks to attract local international tourists, promote local content, and add to the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the state.

The Chief Convener of OyoFest said the initiative has been at the conception stage about a year claimed to have received a major boost with the recent announcement and has decided to intensify the efforts of the local organizing Committee.

The impressive thoughts and aspirations of Mr Governor has made Hon. Rahman Adeola to appreciate His Excellency and also key into the actualization of GSM’s dream of turning Oyo state to a tourist haven by establishing OYOFEST.

Oyofest is an annual event aimed at celebrating art, culture, tourism, youth empowerment, talent hunt and development. The convener who is a renowned philanthropist and academic has spent the last 10years in nurturing youths and contributing to community development.

To maximize the positive impact of culture and tourism in Pace Setter State, it’s essential for government and stakeholders to promote sustainable and responsible tourism practices, preserve rich cultural heritage, invest in infrastructure and human resources.

 

 

 

Born to the Raheem family of Kosija Compound, Oyo West Local Government, he attended both Primary and Secondary schools in Oyo town before proceeding to Kwara State Polytechnic for both A’level & National Diploma before traveling to Ukraine. He studied Economics & Cybernetics at Kharkov Radio and Electronic University. He also holds a professional degree in Tourism.
