Record was set today in Oyo East Local Government Primaries. The outcome of elections further revealed the role of grassroot politicians, influence of elders and stakeholders in politicking.
Against all odds, the serving Supervisory Councilor for Works in Oyo East Local Government, Hon. Peter Olusola Oluokun has emerged winners of Oyo East Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Chairmanship primaries ahead of forthcoming local government elections in the state.

Hon. Oluokun defeated, the incumbent Chairman, Hon. Saheed Arowosaye ans three other candidates to emerge PDP flag bearer for the much anticipated Local Government Polls.
Hon. Oluokun polled a total number of 80 votes out of 100 votes cast. Hon. Bamise Alabi recorded 7 votes while Hon. Adejare Taofeek Adekunle scored 6 votes. Similarly, Hon. Mustapha Abdulwasiu recorded 4 votes while the incumbent Chairman of the LG scored 3 votes to occupy the fifth position.
The Returning Officer for the primary elections, Mr. Hammed Adekunle Ejakabata announced Hon. Peter Olusola Oluokun as the duly elected candidate for PDP Chairmanship election among five aspirants.
