Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has conducted on-the-spot assessment for the road linking New Garrage-Bembo-Apata abandoned by the last administration in the state.
The governor was accompanied to the site of the abandoned road project by the Commissioner for Public Works and Transport Prof. Raphael Afonja and the contractor that will handle the work.
The Governor described the road as strategic to economy of the state because it links Ibadan-Abeokuta and noted that completion of the road project will assist to decongest Ring Road by providing alternative for people coming from Lagos and Ijebu-Ode an alternative route.
‘’We have already made provision for financing the construction of the road in the 2020 budget. We are engaging with property owners, whose buildings need to be demolished to make way for the construction, to agree on adequate compensation payment.
