Senator Yunus Akintunde the Distinguished Senator representing Oyo Central Senatorial District has described the death of former Oyo State Governor Dr. Omololu Olunloyo as a great loss to Nigeria and with his passage as probably the last of such great men in his generation.

“In a statement released to the Media through Kunle Olatunji the Special Assistant on Media and Publicity to Senator Yunus Akintunde, he described the late Dr Olunloyo as a great asset, an embodiment of unusual brilliance who demonstrated immense capacity for efficiency and excellent administration during his lifetime”.

“The news of Dr Omololu Olunloyo’s transition was recieved with mixed feelings of gratitude to God Almighty for a fulfilled life well spent in the service to humanity and some grief despite his passage at a ripe age just a few more days to his 90th birthday celebration”.

“His active participation in the public service and political systems quite early in life holding public office with utmost efficiency as a Commissioner and much later as the Executive Governor of Oyo State though quite briefly were records almost unbeaten especially with glamour, super efficiency”.

“Dr Omololu Olunloyo was highly respected in both academics and public service with exemplary capacity and highest dignity”.

“A great leader with impeccable character of integrity, discipline, honesty, loyalty and unwavering dedication to intellectual engagements throughout his lifetime”.

“In fact, his intellectual capacity and rare intelligence among his peers in his generation was quite legendary, an inspiration to future leaders afterwards attracting great minds of his caliber into the political realms”.

“His short time at the helms of affairs as the Governor of Oyo State was quite eventful and it has become a watershed and reference point in the history of Oyo State and the national political landscape”.

“I sincerely share in the grief of the entire family of the Olunloyo dynasty of which he was the patriarch until his passage unto glory”.

“The good people of Oyo State will miss his invaluable contributions in governance and the Nation has lost a great gem who was a pride of the Nation”.

“He will be sorely missed and I pray that Almighty God grant him eternal rest while the rest of us his family members associates, the government and good people of Oyo State and the Nation at large the fortitude to bear the pains of his passage”.

“The solace at this period is the legacies Baba would be remembered for. He was probably the last of the pioneers of post independence era leaders the nation has produced after the likes of Chief Obafemi Awolowo, Nnamdi Azikwe.

Dr Olunloyo was in the league of the likes of Late Chief Bola Ige, Lateef Jakande, Adekunle Ajasin, Bisi Onabanjo, Ladoke Akintola, Segun Osoba Richard Akinjide, Adisa Akinloye among others”.
