I express my profound concern and unequivocal condemnation of the prevailing insecurity that has gripped our nation, with the Southwest region being a particularly vulnerable hotspot.
The incessant incidents of kidnapping, banditry, and other violent crimes have created a culture of fear, impunity, and distrust in the citizenry. The situation is nothing short of a national emergency, and the government must treat it as such. The people of the Southwest, Oyo North Senatorial District and indeed, all Nigerians, deserve to live without the constant fear of being attacked, kidnapped, or worse.

While I acknowledge the efforts of the government in deploying security personnel and supporting the creation of state police, as well as some other pointers, I strongly believe that these measures, though commendable, are grossly inadequate in addressing the scale and complexity of the problem. The government must do more to protect the lives and property of its citizens. The security architecture in place must be strengthened, and the requisite resources must be allocated to ensure the effective execution of security operations.

The Southwest region, with its unique cultural, economic, and strategic significance, demands special attention and priority in the government’s security calculus. I, therefore, call on the government to establish a special task force to address the specific security challenges facing the region, comprising security experts, community leaders, and other stakeholders.
I urge my fellow citizens, youth in Oyo North Senatorial District and South West at large to remain vigilant and to continue to partner with security agencies to combat the scourge of insecurity. I also call on the international community to support our efforts to address this critical challenge.
I reiterate my commitment to working with all stakeholders to promote peace, security, and development in our region. The government must take concrete and decisive actions to address the concerns of our people. The time for action is now. The people demand it, and the nation expects it.
