In a grand ceremony, the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Rashidi Adewolu Ladoja, Arusa 1, elevated five traditional chiefs to higher positions in the Otun Olubadan line, reaffirming the rich royal tradition of Ibadanland.
The promotion, which took place at the Aafin Olubadan Ile Ibadan, Oke Aremo, in Ibadan, followed Oba Ladoja’s ascension as the 44th Olubadan of Ibadanland on Friday, 7 November, 2025, and drew dignitaries from all walks of life.
This milestone event marks a significant moment in the city’s history, as these esteemed monarchs take on new roles, committed to serving their community with wisdom and dedication.
The elevation of Oba Eddy Oyewole, Oba Abiodun Kola-Daisi, Oba Hamidu Ajibade, Oba Adebayo Akande, MFR and Senior Chief Kolawole Babalola, SAN, is evidence of their tireless efforts and contributions to Ibadanland.
As they assume their new positions, they join the league of leaders who have shaped the city’s history and will continue to inspire future eras.
Oba Ladoja’s charge to the newly elevated chiefs resonates deeply: leadership is not just about titles, but about sacrifice, wisdom and service to the people.
As Ibadanland continues to thrive, these monarchs will undoubtedly play a vital role in fostering unity, peace and development.
