When we were growing up, our parents used to tell us that when you offer alcohol to an ‘ Igbira’ man and he got drunk, he would begin to address you in English. ( Eni to fun ‘ Igbira’ loti mu lo ni ko fo Oyinbo).

I have been trying to get some time to write about how Governor Seyi Makinde would defeat himself in 2027 until I saw the statement credited to Seye Famojuro on the occasion of his birthday yesterday.

After reading the piece, I thought I needed to give some time to address the statement credited to Governor Makinde’s ‘ mystery man’.

The headline if the story is thought provoking.

It reads: ” Seyi Makinde Not a product of Establishment, But A product of Grace: He’s Divinely Backed and Dangerous”.

Imagine such an insensitive and provocative comment, coming from an Ijesa man!

In the news report, Seye Famojuro went on to catalogue Seyi Makinde’s journey in politics and repeated Makinde’s claims that he became Governor without receiving help from anyone.

He also reiterated the fact that Governor Seyi Makinde has been doing wonderfully well because he has no godfather in politics and in governance.

After reading that comment from Seye Famojuro, I asked myself, did he really pause to chew those words before he spew them or was he under some influence of certain substances when he made them?

Before Seye Famojuro, an Ijesa man will come from Ilesa in Osun state to tell our story upside down, will he answer these important questions?

Who is Seye Famojuro in Seyi Makinde’s Government?

What is the relationship between himself and the Governor?

What official roles are assigned to him in Makinde’s Government?

He has moved to Oyo state, perhaps, from Lagos, since Makinde became Governor in 2019.

In fact, it is alleged that he and the Governor lives together under the same roof and are always together most of the times.

From 2018 until now, it is not known to the public that he was assigned an official function in the Makinde Government.

I am not aware that he has a personal job in Oyo state.

Despite all these, his name kept been mentioned everywhere in Makinde’s Government, most especially, in connection with the Parks Management System, Local Government Administration, Government GRAs and many more.

Will he explain this mystery to the public? That a supposed private person, whose roles in a Government is not specified nor designed, would be as prominently mentioned as his name is being mentioned all over the place in Governor Makinde’s Government?

How will he explain his roles in this Government?

How else does a godfather behaves that Seye Famojuro has not behaved in Seyi Makinde’s Government?

Or he thinks we will be intimidated to ask him questions now that he is coming out of his shell to talk to us about how elections are won in our state? He, been from Osun state?

Or, perhaps, in his wild imaginations, all of us are members of the PDP who bow and tremble before him?

He has gone beyond his boundaries and he would be asked questions.

It is not a coincidence that both Seye Famojuro and Governor Makinde thinks alike.

When he said Governor Makinde doesn’t have a godfather, he wasn’t saying anything new.

When he said no one assisted Governor Makinde to win elections in 2019 and 2023, he wasn’t saying anything Governor Makinde has not said.

The one that baffled me is the fact that Governor Makinde is ‘ dangerous ‘.

Even though we know that but Governor Makinde hasn’t publicly admitted that he is a dangerous man until Seye now comes out to tell us.

I agree with Seye Famojuro. Governor Seyi Makinde is very dangerous.

He has demonstrated that in the way he dealt with the coalition partners who assisted him to become Governor in 2019.

He demonstrated it with the way he treated and rubbished all the layers of the Nigerian Courts in the case of the Eleruwa.

We, in Ibarapa East and North Local Governments know how dangerous the Governor is when Auxiliary attacked us in 2021 and 2023.

No one would need to tell the Alaafin of Oyo how dangerous Governor Seyi Makinde is today.

Former Governor Ayodele Fayose talked about how dangerous he is.

Wike told us.

However, I am pleased to tell Seye Famojuro that a day reckoning has been assigned to every evil and dangerous acts and in the case of Governor Seyi Makinde, the day of reckoning is very close.

If Seye Famojuro is clever enough, he ought to be smelling it.

When people want to be mischievous, they would say oh, my breakthrough is divine without acknowledging those who God has used to accomplish divinity.

I am glad that Seye is a Christian, at least by name.

I think they also call him Joseph if I’m not mistaken.

What can he tell us about ‘ Destiny helpers ‘ in Christianity.

Like Yorubas would say, God will not come down to directly intervene in your matter. He would send others. ( Olorun O nii sokale latoke, eeyan ni A ran).

You may decide to acknowledge the contributions of those God sent to assist you or not but God is not mocked.

It’s unfortunate that Seye Famojuro who is completely unknown to anyone in the politics of Oyo state until Makinde became Governor in 2019 will now turn himself to an authority who would be telling us how elections into the office of the Oyo state Governor was won on two successive occasions.

Honestly, I pity those who parade themselves as ‘ Party Leaders ‘ within the Governor Makinde’s set up because I can not say the PDP, now that the Governor stands expelled from the PDP.

Seye Famojuro’s statement would be very useful as we move towards 2027.

His mindset and that of Governor Seyi Makinde works in unison.

No matter what you do to assist them, your contributions doesn’t matter.

That is what their comments imply.

I laughed when I read the part where Seye was talking about how Governor Makinde have been using the resources of Oyo state to build ‘good roads and infrastructures’.

It is not his fault.

This is an Ijesa man from Osun state.

The Governorship election in Osun state, his own state, would be coming up in a matter of months.

Can he dare to go to Osun and tell them the direction to go?

I bet he won’t.

Like I said, the day of reckoning is very closer than imagined.

The 2027 general election is almost upon us.

It will be the appropriate time to put the political hypothesis of Seyi Makinde and Seye Famojuro to test.

The political ideology that repays good with evil.

My advice for them is to quickly get another political platform for themselves, now that they have been displaced from the PDP.

Yesterday, I read an interesting report which says that the ‘ Chairman of the PDP ‘ in Oyo state, Hon. Dayo Ogungbenro has said that Governor Makinde is open “for consultation” with any political party ahead of 2027.

In an interview with Leadership news outlet, Hon. Ogungbenro, while reacting to the alleged meeting between Makinde and former Vice president Atiku Abubakar said that the allegations by Fayose that Governor Makinde wants to be Atiku’s Vice presidential candidate ” is still in the realm of speculation”.

If you look at the above statement critically, Governor Makinde is now shopping around for a suitable political platform, away from the PDP.

The statement is an admittance of the fact that they have no hope within the PDP again.

No wonder, Governor Makinde has not been able to unveil his anointed successor.

No wonder, ‘ Omi Tuntun’ 3.0 is presently in abeyance.

I wish Governor Makinde well in his desperate search for a new political platform but I’m worried.

If it is true that he is searching for a vice presidential ticket, what is the fate of those who have refused to see that the PDP is a dead end and are still following him up and down, carrying their own personal ambitions along?

You will not hear it from me that the mother of the community head is practicing witchcraft.

By Governor Makinde’s nature, his personal ambition is what he is concerned about.

A word should be enough for the wise.

Let us assume that Governor Makinde eventually finds somewhere to berth, is peace even guaranteed in the new party he moves to, moving forward?

We all know Governor Makinde and his antecedents.

It is almost guaranteed that fire and thunder will accompany him to his new destination.

Honestly, I pity those who are waiting to receive him into their midst.

At any rate, the 2027 general election promises to be very interesting.

When Governor Makinde eventually gets somewhere to settle politically, this conversation will continue.

By that time, we will know what is left of his rag-tag faction of the PDP.

Perhaps, by then, he would be emboldened to tell us the carrier of his ‘ Omi Tuntun’ banner.

You thought I wanted to say the carrier of ‘ Ebo Tuntun’?

Sola Abegunde.
