Concerned parents of students of King’s College, Lagos have staged a peaceful protest to the school over the management’s decision to convert day students to boarding school.

The parents who want their wards to remain day students also called on the school management to reduce the amount paid for development levy.

Parents who spoke with TVC News correspondent said the plan to convert day students to hostel was against their decision when enrolling their wards.

The parents also urged the school management to review the amount charge for development so that it will be at par with other Unity schools in the country.

One of the parents, Mr. Waheed Alabi who spoke with journalists at protest ground said he prefers his son going to school from home rather than in boarding facility. He said based on what he has seen, the school lack the capacity to accommodate all students into their hostel facilities.

He said the facility cannot accommodate over 4,500 students in the school, he lamented about the poor state of the dormitory section of the school.

Another parent urged the school management to revive the environment first before bringing plan to accommodate all students in boarding facilities on board.
