The Oyo State Commissioner of Police, Ayodele Sonubi has dismissed reports claiming that a security emergency had been declared in the State.
In a statement issued by the State Police Command Public Relations Officer, Adewale Osifeso in Ibadan, CP Sonubi cautioned the public against spreading false and unverified information.
The statement emphatically refuted rumours and misleading information making the rounds, particularly on social media about the death of about 50 persons under mysterious circumstances and a subsequent declaration of a state of emergency.
The CP described the report as false and a figment of the author’s imagination.
He enjoined all law-abiding residents of the State to go about their lawful businesses without any fear.
