The immediate past senator representing Oyo South Senatorial District, Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi recently visited University of Ibadan and met with the management of the institution to discuss how to fast-track commissioning of Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) project tagged Centre of Excellence for Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences.

The founder of Rilwan Adesoji Akanbi Foundation (RAAF) was disturbed why the multi-million naira project started under the erstwhile CBN governor, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo has not been put to use in the premier varsity while University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN) and Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria are enjoying the facilities to aid teaching and research.

The then Acting Vice Chancellor of the University, Prof. Adebola Ekanola received Senator Akanbi in his office along with former DVC Administration now 13th UI VC, Prof. Kayode Adebowale, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Management Sciences, Prof. Francis Egbwakhide,  Head of Department of Economics, Prof. Omoh Aregbeyen and Director of Public Communication, Mr. Olatunji Oladejo.

Senator Akanbi said as a prominent member of the Senate Committee on Banking, Finance and Insurance in the 8th Senate couple with the support of his colleagues, adequate funds was appropriated for the culmination project in June 2019 and three universities benefitted from the intervention program.

After fruitful deliberations about what caused the delay, Sen. Akanbi pledged to reach out to appropriate authority at the Federal Government level to speed up with commissioning of the CBN Centre of Excellence Building.
