Barely a week after expiration of the order issued by Oyo State government through Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Dr. Abdulateef Idowu Oyeleke to roadside traders. The FreshPage can authoritative reports that the market women has resisted the order as they continue shading the goods on major roads in Ibadan.

It would be recalled that Dr. Oyeleke had on January 5, 2021 compelled road side traders to vacate the street during a sensitization campaign for traders at Molete under bridge and other parts of Ibadan.

Though, Dr. Oyeleke reiterated zero tolerance for street trading under the administration of Governor Seyi Makinde but FRESHPAGE.COM.NG on January 18, 2021, discovered that the government didn’t walk the talk as many road side traders shade their goods comfortably on the road side thereby making it difficult for vehicular movement and constituting environmental hazard.

This online newspaper took a trip from Oritamerin, down to Oje market, spent hours to observe and see level of compliance with government directive at Idi-Ayunre road before proceeding to Gate.

The situation remained the same at Agodi Gate as road side traders at Idi-Ogungun junction down to front of Wema Bank at Gate.

FreshPage observed a woman frying small chops and beans cake on the road while the atmosphere remained intense at ‘Baba Onilu’ , Iwo road down to under bridge as road side traders flooded everywhere.

At the popular Academy bus-stop, opposite Bishop Phillips High School down to Iyana-Oja, the hustling and bustling on the road reached peak as commuters struggling to navigate to their various destinations.
