Barely 13 days to official reopening of public schools in Lagos State after they were shut in March, 2020 following the outbreak of global COVID-19 pandemic.
Students have been at home since March due to total lockdown of the state by Federal Government to contain the spread of deadly viral infection.
As students prepare to resume, FreshPage gathered that pupils of Low Cost Nursery/Primary School, Jakande Estate, Ejigbo would continue to learn under environment that is not conducive.
This is attributed to the leaking roof of the classes as pupils may end up bailing water from classrooms especially as we enter period of heavy downpour.
It would be recalled the Lagos State Governor, Mr. Sanwo-Olu had on August 29, announced the intention of his government to reopen tertiary institutions, public secondary and primary schools in the state.
It becomes necessary for Lagos State Government led by Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu to fix the leaking roof and renovate the entire building to make it more comfortable for pupils to learn and understand whatever their teachers passed on to them.
This will complement the effort of the Lagos State Universal Basic Education (LASUBEB) to get the best for the state’s own primary schools just as it recently trained over 2000 teachers across 300 primary schools in the state.
The Executive Chairman, (LASUBEB), Hon. Alawiye King and his team should as a matter of urgency conduct Infrastructural Assessment to identify schools with infrastructural deficits in the state.
This will go along way to reposition state’s education glory.
