Dr. Mayowa Folorunso through his foundation named Folorunso Iserere Foundation (FiF) has provided learning platform about menstrual hygiene for over 200 secondary school girls in Akinyele local government area of Oyo State.
The sensitization campaign for young girls who were mainly secondary school girls in local government was done in conjunction with Federation of Akinyele Local Government Students (FALGS).
The collaboration between Folorunso Iserere Foundation and FALGS was necessitated to fill gaps around menstrual health.
The sensitization programme held at the Award Hall in the Akinyele Local Government Council, Moniya.
Leading health expert, Alhaja Ramat Adam took the participants about what menstrual cycle is all about, what young girls should do, major signs before and after the periods and general menstrual hygiene.
Alhaja Adam advised secondary school girls not to panic but ensure that they take good care of themselves during their monthly menstrual periods.
Secondary school girls from Ojoo High School, Amao College, Trinity College, Praise College and others were in attendance.
Questions were entertained from participants and students confessed at the of the programme that they were better informed about menstrual hygiene and others related to it.
The President of FALGS, Dr. Wale Oladoja thanked the speaker on behalf of the members and crave for more synergy between the association and Folorunso Iserere Foundation to raise the bar of standard of living in Akinyele local government area and beyond.
