The Executive Governor of Oyo State Seyi Makinde on Wednesday nominated the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland, Iba Gani Adams as the Ambassador for the Western Nigeria Security Network (WNSN) codenamed Amotekun.

As part of the effort to ensure that Iba Gani Adams deliver as expected, governor Makinde also presented a new pick-up as pilot vehicle with three members of the security outfit as part of Adams’ security entourages.

The newly appointed Amotekun ambassador received the pick-up van at his Omole Phase 2 residence in Lagos. Aare Onakakanfo eulogised the state’s government for deeming it fit to appoint him as WNSN ambassador.

Iba Gani Adams while receiving the representatives of Oyo state government maintained that the security of lives and properties should remain the priority of any serious government.

“I hope other governors in the region will replicate this gesture, particularly at this time when we are faced with the various security challenges.

“Security is a sacred responsibility of the Aare Ona Kakanfo, and for the governor to have recognised that is highly commendable.

“Now that Oyo state government has identified with us as the Ambassador of the Western Nigeria Security Network outfit, Amotekun, it is a call to service.”

Adams promised to use his office of the Aare Ona Kakanfo of Yorubaland to complement the efforts of the state government in fighting insecurity.

An Oyo Amotekun official, Comrade Akinro Kazeem Babalola said the Makinde administration’s gesture is in line with its resolve to reduce crime.
