The Chairman, Oyo State Universal Basic Education Board, (SUBEB) Dr. Nureni Adeniran has revealed when the commission may likely commence recruitment of primary school teachers to fill vacancies and leave bonus for existing staff members.
Dr. Adeniran said that Oyo SUBEB would commence recruitment of teachers as soon as TESCOM complete it’s recruitment exercise to fill vacant subjects at the secondary schools.
Dr. Adeniran disclosed this while speaking as a guest on a live radio programme titled ‘Political Circuit’ anchored by Mr. Mayor Isaac Brown on Fresh 105.9FMÂ which was monitored by FreshPage media outfit.
The former Commissioner for Education said that the Board has asked for the assistance of the executive governor of Oyo state, Engr Seyi Makinde and that the recruitment is to begin when the state Post Primary School Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM), concludes its ongoing recruitment process.
The executive chairman who reeled out his achievements in office, also stated that ICT materials have been distributed to some selected primary schools in the state to introduce technology in order to improve on teaching methods.
While speaking further on the programme, Dr. Adeniran also explained that primary schools in the state are open to good spirited donors to assist in improving on the existing infrastructures in the schools.
He specifically cited the example of All Saint Primary School , Araromi, Aperin in Ona Ara Local Government Area of the state which he explained have been greatly improved upon by private individuals.
According to the executive chairman, the board is willing to approve any request by private individuals and corporate bodies to upgrade its schools, even if such new infrastructures will be named after the donors.
On leave bonus allowance of primary school teachers that are outstanding, the Chairman promised that payment will be made soon. He said the 2018 and 2019 leave allowance were inherited, but the one of 2018 has been paid. The SUBEB boss explained that the process of payment of the outstanding balance is ongoing, but the commission want to produce Identity Cards for the teachers first, as it has been discovered that most teachers, do not have identity card.
