Maye Balogun of Ibadanland, Chief Sharafadeen Alli has defeated late former governor Abiola Ajimobi’s in-law, Kolapo Idris Kola-Daisi and other aspirants to win All Progressives Congress, APC Oyo South Senatorial District ticket.
Alli emerged victorious at the newly conducted primaries after the first was cancelled due to inability of all aspirants to agree on delegate lists. FRESHPAGE observed that the primaries that produced Kolapo Kola-Daisi was cancelled due to over-voting.
Ladoja’s close ally, Barrister Sharafadeen Alli scored 185 votes while his close rival, Kola-Daisi polled 145 votes; serving senator had 84 and Hon. Adekanmbi scored 72 votes.
The former Secretary to the State Government, Alli will face Mogaji Joseph Tegbe who secured the ticket of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and other candidates come 2023 general elections.
It is too early for any party’s standard bearer for Oyo South to celebrate, efforts should be concentrated to mend fences with other aspirants first and make the ambition sellable to electorates in the district.
