Governors of Oyo and Osun States; Engr Seyi Makinde and Mr. Gboyega Oyetola have concluded plans to reconstruct ever busy Iwo road interchange from Olodo enroute Lalupon-Iyana Offa down to Iwo town to Osogbo.
The development was made known to the public in a joint press briefing held in Ibadan on Monday.
The duo commissioners for Works and Transports in Oyo and Osun states; Prof. Kehinde Sangodoyin and Engr Oluremi Omowaye.
Prof. Sangodoyin clarified that Oyo state will handle 29.2km out of over 80km of the entire project. According to Prof. Sangodoyin, Oyo will take care of Iwo road interchange to the border point of Osun while Osun will handle the road from Iwo town to Osogbo.
Engr. Oluremi said Osun government will handle 54.4km of the road that borders Oyo and Osun.
The project when completed is expected to enhance economic integration, boost security and free movement of people and goods between the two states.
The two commissioners concluded that Oyo and Osun governments would meet again to deliberate on modalities of executing the project, amount to spend, duration and contractor that would handle the project.
